Disease Monitor

Each infectious disease has a spreading pattern. It is spread under certain conditions, using certain environmental factors and sometimes it infects only specific hosts (animals, humans). Finding out such a pattern can sometimes prove difficult, moreover following the distribution is challenging. A tool must be develop in order to facilitate scientists and medical staff to follow how a certain disease has spread and how it relates to other conditions and environmental factors (weather, location etc.).

Museum Explorer

Develop a mobile application/device that guides a museum visitor. The mobile application/device could easily picked up at the entrance via a QR code (application) or simply provided by the museum staff. The main functionalities for the mobile application/device consist of the fact that they take advantage of the position of the user in the museum (using sensor networks, NFC, RFID etc.) to determine where he is and provide him with useful audio and visual information on the devices and in concordance with the museum displays. If a visitor wants to find out more he would go to a certain exhibits and find out more (the exhibits have QR codes or RFID, NFC and getting closer/pointing at them would give us the audio tour). At the end of the tour the application will provide an overview of the tour the visitor took and the photos he took along the way presented as time line, and in concordance with the places where he has been in the museum at that time. Also give the visitor the possibility to interact with the displays/demos in the museum using the mobile application, or the physical controls on that demo.

Bonus: Automatic generated guided tour for that museum, based on the visitor’s preferences and interests. The application will also be available for smart phone and tablet.

I’m lost device

Many people with disabilities (visual, locomotory, etc.), certain medical conditions (e.g.: Alzheimer’s), or senior citizens often get lost in new cites or inside buildings. In order to help these specific types of users a device/mobile application is required. The device/mobile application will be able to track their movement, register important health data (in order to notify the ambulance/doctors about the patients condition or eventual accidents/panic attacks or heart attacks), and help the user find his way out of a building/get back to his home.

Accessibility and Usability Testing Tool

Develop an application for conducting usability and accessibility tests. The application will be able to provide preset study templates (focus group, mobile device test, etc. ), standard or custom surveys,  record user actions (Capture screen activity, or video recording), make notes and provide means of analyzing&exporting data.
